VIDEO: Woman unknowingly holds one of the world's most dangerous animals

A video has received almost 8 million views after it shows a woman "unknowingly holding one of the most dangerous animals": the Blue-Ringed Octopus.

TikTik user KayinMarie21 uploaded the video she took 3-years ago during her time studying abroad in Bali as an animal researcher. She explains in a follow-up video that her and a few other students had some downtime and decided to visit the beach. Wildlife in Indonesia is very different than any animals seen in America and Kaylin was excited to explore the animals at the beach and during her time in the country.

While at the beach, one of the students she was with picked up the Blue-Ringed Octopus and "didn't think anything of it" passing it between a few people in her small group to hold. Kaylin continues to say that she didn't realize the octopus was venomous until she received a message on her Instagram Story.

After showing the tiny octopus crawling around in her hand, her TikTok video shows some information about what is truly one of the deadliest animals on the planet.

One of the pull quotes she highlighted in her TikTok video includes:

"The blue-ringed octopus, despite its small size, carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans within minutes"

There currently is no antivenom to remove the poison if someone is bit. Luckily, there are signs when the Blue-Ringed Octopus feels threatened, including quickly changing color and flashing iridescent blue as a warning.
