Ford O’Connell is one of 11 candidates in Florida’s 19th Congressional District.That seat is being vacated by Republican Rep. Francis Rooney who is retiring at the end of the term.
Over the weekend, O’Connell participated in what is known as the 2020 Python bowl where snake hunters go after invasive pythons.According to organizers, the intent of the Python Challenge 2020 Python Bowl is to raise public awareness about Burmese pythons in Florida and how this invasive species is a threat to the Everglades ecosystem, including native wildlife.
While on the hunt, O’Connell cuts a brief but memorable ad with one of the snakes he caught.He says “I’m Ford O’Connell & I’m running for congress.It’s high time we drive the snakes out of Washington.”
