It’s always sad to see one of our musicians go but sure enough, they do. One of the guys I always respected was Gee Gee Shinn who passed yesterday at age 78. I wrote the back of the Boogie Kings first album and emceed quite a few of their shows. “Gee” always stood out despite the fact the King’s had one of the best instrumental groups around. When Gee Gee took the mike you knew who was the fire in the cannon. He was that good. For some reason, neither he or any of the other vocalists in the band ever got the national recognition they deserved. If you never heard the group, Google Gee Gee Shinn, and the Kings.
