25 years in prison. That is the sentence Judge Larry Gist handed down to 34-year old Clyde
Shilo Chopane this week. The sentencing came after a Jefferson County jury convicted
Chopane of possession of a controlled substance. Chopane was arrested by Beaumont police
in September of 2014 after hiding PCP under his vehicle when officers approached him.
Because of seven prior felony convictions, Chopane faces an enhanced punishment phase of
25 to 99 years in prison.
