The DPS is investigating an auto/pedestrian fatality. A 29-year old Lumberton man was
struck and killed yesterday afternoon on Highway 347, near Fourth Street, in Jefferson
County. The victim was attempting to walk across the highway and stepped in front of
an oncoming northbound pickup. The victim, whose name has not been released, was
pronounced dead at the scene.
