A man that field for candidacy for Beaumont mayor is no longer on the ballot. Hani Thome,
who previously served as the city’s water utility director, had lived in Port Arthur and did
not register himself as a Beaumont voter until after the deadline. Mayor Ames does not have
an opponent for the May 6th election. Also this week, Beth Gallaspy filed for one of the two
city council at-large seats. Those seats are currently held by W.L. Pate and Get Williams-Wright.
The filing deadline for a seat on council of for mayor is at 5:00 Friday.
