Beaumont firefighters worked an apartment fire last night at 1280 Saxe that left the residents of twenty apartments homeless and resulted in one arrest. The fire started on the patio of a first floor apartment and spread to another apartment and into the attic. Two apartments were damaged and at seven more had smoke and water damage. Power had to be turned off to 24 apartments. One firefighter was treated at the scene by Beaumont EMS. A 46-year old woman was taken into custody and arson charges are pending. The Red Cross is assisting residents displaced by the fire.
