The former assistant water utility director for the city of Port Arthur has been placed on
five years probation and fined $500. This past January, John Tomplait pleaded guilty to
charges of theft by public servant relating to the theft of metal from the city and selling it.
Tomplait must also pay more than $1,200 in restitution.
