The Board of Managers for the Beaumont Independent School District, appointed by
then Texas Education Commissioner Michael Williams in 2014, has agreed to stay on. Current
Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath says keeping this group together will make the
transition of a new school board much easier. The election for a new school board is May 6th. It
is not know how long the transition period will take place. The board of managers is made up
of Jimmy Simmons, Joe Domino, Robert Turner, Vernice Monroe, Jack Carroll, AB Bernard,
and Lenny Caballero.
