23 fourth grade students from Charlton-Pollard Elementary School in Beaumont were sent to
the hospital yesterday following a wreck involving a BISD school bus. One of those students
was airlifted to a Houston hospital and was listed in serious, but stable condition. The wreck
happened on Highway 69 in Lumberton. Lumberton police report it appears the bus struck
the back of a tractor trailer then a pickup and came to a stop against a pole in a ditch. The
bus was equipped with an on-board video recording equipment. That video will be reviewed
today. The investigation continues.
