A man is accused of assaulting a Port Arthur police officer. Police were called to a family
disturbance last night in the 2100 block of Waverly. Theofficer was in the process of arresting
John Johnson Jr. when Johnson began punching the officer. The officer tased Johnson, who
was able to break free and escape. The officer was transported to the Medical Center of
Southeast Texas to be treated for minor injuries.
