Port Arthur police have a man is custody following a hostage situation. The suspect, Christopher
James Simpson, was seen carrying a TV into a residence yesterday in the 2400 block of 11th in
Port Arthur. Officers set up a perimeter around the residence and were told Simpson had
his girlfriend hold up inside the home. The SWAT team was called out and after four hours
of negotiations, the hostage was released. A short time later, Simpson surrendered. He has
been charged with unlawful restraint.
