A routine traffic stop in Beaumont yesterday morning led to the arrest of a man on multiple
charges. Police stopped a vehicle at 11th & Sweetgum. The driver, later identified as 38-
year old David Ashton Wells, fled on foot and was quickly apprehended. It was also learned
that Wells was a convicted felon. During a search of Wells’ vehicle, officers found a firearm
and marijuana. Wells was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
