Port Arthur Man Sentenced To 41 Months In Federal Prison

A Port Arthur man, the pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud involving federal

inmates, has been sentenced to nearly 3 ½ years in federal prison. 49-year old Larry Lee

Stephens was one of six individuals  in the Port Arthur and Houston area that were involved in

a six year scheme which defrauded the relatives of federal inmates by falsely representing that

they could obtain reductions in their relatives sentences in exchange for payment. Stephens,

along with other defendants must pay more than $3 million in restitution. Stephens has been

sentenced to 41 months in federal prison. Also named in the indictment were 42-year old

Wilbert Brown of Port Arthur and  41-year old Alvin James Warrick, 36-year old Colitha Patrice

Bush, 33-year old Ronald B Sheppard, and 54-year old Alvin Turner, all of Houston.
