Vidor Loop Approved By TxDot

The Texas Department of Transportation has approved the Vidor loop project in Orange County. Also known as proposed loop 299, the new road would connect north and south sections of Interstate-10 beginning and ending at 105.  The state also agreed to pay 34.2 million dollars of the 53.3 million dollar costs.  It would alleviate traffic issues at Interstate-10 and 105 in Vidor.  However some in the community say the project would cause major environmental damage and would cost taxpayers too much. Orange county officials will make a final decision on the Vidor Loop project by the end of the year.
