Residents To Be Housed On Barges

KLVI News

With thousands of Port Arthur residents without a home, temporary housing is on its way.

Berthing barges will be used to house 600 people. The same barges were used to house residents

following Hurricane Sandy that hit the east coast five years ago. The plan is to house families

initially on the barges once they arrive. Currently more than 200 evacuees are housed at Thomas

Jefferson Middle School in Port Arthur. School in Port Arthur starts on Monday.
