The DPS reports one person is hospitalized and another is dead following a wreck on
Highway 90 near Meeks Road this morning. A pickup, driven by 21-year old Jacob Ferrill of
Beaumont, was traveling westbound, left the road and struck some trees. Ferrill was transported
to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. A 23-year old passenger
in the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. His name has not been
released. The investigation is being conducted by the DPS and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s
Office.
