The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office has dropped capital murder charges against a
man accused of shooting and killing 19-year old Kera Teel. She was shot and killed outside the
Sienna Trails Apartments on Concord Road in Beaumont on June 6th. Atayanna Douglas, who
is jailed for her role in the murder, positively identified Jared Bias as the gunman,. A further
investigation has revealed Bias did not pull the trigger. He is free after posting a $20,000 bond
for a separate hindering apprehension charge.
