Few details are available about the report of an incident near Diamond D Ranch in Jefferson
County, off of Highway 90 near China. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a call
of two men knocking on doors. One of the suspects reportedly fired shots at a deputy that he
was fleeing from on foot. The deputy returned fire. The suspect was taken into custody. Nobody
was hurt during the exchange of gunfire. The investigation and the search for a possible second
man continues.
