A North Carolina man is jailed facing multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a
pursuit that started in Louisiana and ended in Vidor. Speeds exceeded more than 100 miles
per hour before ending near the 855 mile marker after Vidor police deployed “stop sticks”
The driver of the fleeing vehicle, 22-year old Diego Gomez, exited and tried to steal a vehicle
from a motorist. The motorist was armed and held Gomez at gunpoint until officers arrived.
Gomez fought will officers while being detained. He is charged with evading and aggravated
kidnapping.
