LUFKIN — Legendary country music singer and pianist Mickey Gilley and his son, Michael, were involved in an accident in Corrigan on Wednesday. It happened as they were traveling in a 2013 Toyota SUV to Branson, Missouri where Gilley owns a theater and regularly performs.
Michael's wife, Susan Gilley, said that Mickey suffered a broken ankle and shoulder, while her husband is sore, but otherwise okay. Susan said she went to Lufkin and, following medical treatment, she brought them back to Pasadena.
Word is that another driver ran a stop sign in front of them, and Michael Gilley swerved, but the SUV clipped the other vehicle which caused his SUV to roll over and landed upside-down in a median.
