A Beaumont man police say is a witness in a recent murder is jailed after fleeing from police
yesterday afternoon. 28-year old Jody Bass sped off and abandoned his car near Fannett and
Fourth and fled on foot. With the assistance of several agencies, Bass was located in the area
Police believe Bass witnesses the December 28th shooting death of 20-year old Anthony
Green, who was shot at a car wash on Washington Blvd. An murder warrant has been issued
for Desmond Bennett. Anyone with any information on Bennett is asked to call Southeast
