A Beaumont man, that pleaded guilty, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in connection with
the death of his girlfriend. Salvador Mijares was charged with aggravated assault family violence
after Tonya Rhodes fell off his moving car on Toccoa Road in April of last year. Mijares could
of received up to 20 years. He was sentenced yesterday by Judge John Stevens.
