Rumors of Selena Gomez and ZAYN teaming up for a duet for the live-action version of Aladdin has the Twitterverse on fire. Now, we must say that rumors of the collab are actually just rumors at the moment as they've surfaced onto the blogosphere via Stan Twitter, but it wouldn't be the first time that pop worlds have recently collided for Disney ventures. Just look at Ariana Grande and John Legend's cover of "Beauty and the Beast."
Word of the all-star team-up surfaced earlier this week, with one Gomez fan revealing that Instagram's most followed user and the former One Direction bandmate were spotted on separate occasions at the same recording studio in New York City in mid-January. Cue the eyebrow raise. No word on what song they'd collaborate on, but having the pop stars remake 1992's "A Whole New World" would surely be a whole new experience in 2018.
Aladdin doesn't hit movie theatres until May 24, 2019, so we have a long time ahead of us before we find out if there's actually any truth to the rumors. Still, even if the idea is just a fabrication from Stan Twitter, it's clear that Disney could have a major concept on their hands.
