Russia Blames Israel For Syrian Air Strikes

Russia is claiming that Israel is responsible for an airstrike on a military airport in Syria. Russia said that two Israeli fighter jets launched the attack from Lebanon's airspace, firing eight missiles at the T4 air base near the city of Homs in central Syria. Five of the eight missiles were intercepted and three of them landed in the western section of the military airport. Russia said there were 14 casualties in the attack.

Israel has launched hundreds of attacks in Syria since 2012, mostly targeting suspected weapons caravans headed for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Israel has not commented on the report or claimed responsibility for the attack.

The air strikes come after a suspected chemical weapons attack killed dozens of people in Douma, a rebel-held town near Damascus. President Trump promised there would be a "big price to pay" for the attack, which is widely believed to have been orchestrated by the Syrian regime.
