Orange County commissioners have named Dean Crooks as interim county judge, He replaces
Britt Carlton, who resigned to take a position with the Texas Medical Board. Crooks defeated
Carlton in the March Republican Primary. Crooks was set to face Don Brown in the November.
Brown, who won the Democratic Primary, was indicted earlier this month of charge of injury
to a child. Brown has indicated he is withdrawing from the race.
