A Jefferson County jury has sentenced a Beaumont man to 20 years in prison for assaulting a
man. In January of last year, 52-year old Samad Sefiane was involved in an argument with
two of his roommates when he struck the victim in the head with a seven pound splitting
maul while the victim was sitting in a chair. The victim suffered serious injuries including
partial paralysis. Sefiane was also fined $10,000.
