I-10 east in Jefferson County was closed for several hours yesterday after an 18-wheeler
overturned near Hamshire Road. A passenger side tire blew out causing the rig to strike
a concrete barrier. The rig was hauling soap that spilled onto the interstate causing a traffic
hazard. The driver of the 18-wheeler, 47-year old Abel Gonzales of Houston, was treated
and released from Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
