The DPS has released the name of a man that was killed after he stopped to assist with a disabled
vehicle in Orange County. 46-year old Pedro Jose Soza-Orozco, of Groves, stopped on the I-10
Frontage Road Monday afternoon. Orozco was in front of the stalled vehicle when the vehicle
was struck from behind by a pickup. Orozco was pronounced dead at the scene. A 2-year old
passenger in the car also died at the scene. The driver of the car, 26-year old Stephan Horn and
another passenger were transported to the hospital. The driver of the pickup that crashed into the
back of the stalled car, 31-year old Stevan Shonn Smith of Orange, and his passenger were both
treated at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. The investigation into the wreck continues.
