Three members of a Jasper family are heading to federal prison for conspiracy to commit
wire fraud. 66-year old Walter Diggles has been sentenced to nine years, his wife Rosie
Diggles and daughter Anita Diggles were both sentenced to 4 ½ years. The Diggles were
convicted for using federal block grant money following Hurricanes Rita, Ike, and Dolly
for personal use. All three must pay restitution. Walter Diggles at one term served as
Executive Director of the Deep East Texas Council of Government.
