Newton County Sheriff Billy Rowles tells KLVI a criminal investigation is underway following
a fatal house fire. The body of a woman was found inside the home yesterday afternoon on
County Road 3038 in the Pine Grove Community, which is between Newton and Bleakwood.
The woman’s body was brought to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy. Deputies are
interviewing the victim’s boyfriend. Charges are pending. No names have been released.
