The DPS will be ramping up its Moving Over/Slow Down Enforcement today. The 2003
law requires motorists to move over or slow down when certain vehicles, including police,
fire, EMS, Tex-Dot vehicles, and two trucks that are stopped on the side of the road with
emergency lights activated. In Southeast Texas, operations will be set up today in the Beaumont,
Jasper, and Liberty areas. If you are unable to move over to the next lane, you must slow down
to 20 mph below the posted speed limit.
