The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a scam. A woman recently received a call
and written communication from people who her she had just won $2.6 million from Publishers
Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. They told her in order to collect, she would have to pay the $18,000
in taxes upfront. Sheriff Billy Rowles is asking citizens to be alert and not to give out any
personal information and to contact his office if you receive a call of this nature.
