The Orange County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert citizens about a phone scam. Several
residents have received a phone call from a man claiming he is Detective Paul Norris with
the sheriff’s office. He is asking for money to prevent them from having criminal charges
filed against them. In a similar scam, victims are asked to send or wire money to bond a
family member out of jail. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office does not have a detective
by this name and the agency would not ask for money over the phone.
