Three Jefferson County teens were killed and two other injured in a one-vehicle wreck on
Highway 287 in Woodville yesterday morning. The car they were in left the highway and
struck multiple telephone poles. 17-year old Natalee Merriman, 17-year old Nick Breaux,
and 15-year old Waylon Paul were all pronounced dead at the scene. According to a press
release from the Nederland School District, all three were former students in the school
district. The driver of the car, Christopher Wedegeworth was airlifted to Christus St.
Elizabeth Hospital. Another passenger, Kristopher Kaye was treated and released. The
investigation into the wreck continues.
