A burglar is recovering after a homeowner shot him in the leg New Years morning. 26-year old
Elgin Casinger, of Beaumont, was shot as he was attempting to break into a home in the 600
block of Goodhue. Casinger was transported to the hospital for treatment. Once released,
he was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and charged with burglary
of habitation. No charges have been filed against the homeowner.
