A man and a woman have been charged in connection with a Monday afternoon shooting in
Newton County. 32-year old Branndon Stark, of Kirbyville, was shot in the leg at a residence
on Highway 87, north of Bleakwood. 32-year old George Riggs, of Bleakwood, is charged
with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
His bond is set at $120,000. 36-year old Cissy Jennings, of Dequincy, is charged with
possession of a controlled substance and is being held on a $20,0000 bond. The possession
charges were filed after a large amount of methamphetamine was found in the home.
