A Newton man is jailed in Jasper County under a $1 million bond charged with murder. 55-year
old Kevin Andrea Byerly has confessed to killing 43-year old Candi McKee. It is believed
Byerly murdered McKee on County Road 588 Monday morning, near Call, then set her vehicle
on fire and then dumped her body off the Highway 63 bridge into the Sabine River. Her body
was recovered Monday afternoon. It is believed the two were romantically involved. An autopsy
has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
