A man serving a seven year sentence for an aggravated assault testified for the state yesterday
in the trial of Kelly Daws, who is on trial for conspiracy. Joal Riley told the jury Daws paid
him $3,000 to attack her estranged husband, Jerry Daws. The Port Arthur police officer was
stabbed multiple times in the 2016 attack. Kelly Daws faces up to 20 years in prison if she
is convicted. The trial resumes this morning at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
