62 people have been indicted in Jefferson County for food stamp fraud. The scheme involved
the fraudulent use of benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known
as SNAP benefits. A search warrant recently executed at Coleman’s Burger Deli on Highland
Avenue in Beaumont revealed over 300 purchases from EBT cards and over 60 SNAP receipts.
The purchases totaled more than $70,000 of food use at the restaurant. The restaurant’s owner,
Johnny Ray Coleman, turned himself in and is free after posting bond.
