A Beaumont police officer is hospitalized after his patrol unit was struck by an oncoming car
as he was responding to a call early this morning. The officer was traveling in the 9200 block
of McLean in reference to a party and shot possibly being fired. A Charger attempted to pass
several fleeing vehicles when he struck the patrol unit head-on. The officer suffered serious, but
non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Charger fled on foot. The driver could have
