Orange County Precinct 3 Commissioner John Gothia has submitted his resignation in hopes of
becoming interim county judge. Current Interim County Judge Carl Thibodeaux has announced
he is stepping down. On Wednesday, Orange County commissioners are expected to accept
Gothia’s resignation at which time Judge Thibodeaux will name his replacement in Precinct 3.
The following Wednesday, commissioners are expected to name a new interim count judge,
which Gothia told KLVI he is interested in. The interim position opened in March with the
resignation of then County Judge Dean Crooks.
