A Tyler County teen is jailed accused of stabbing his grandfather at a residence near Spurger
Saturday night. The victim, Ernest Sims, called the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office to report the
stabbing and toldthem he was being transported to the hospital by private vehicle. He later died.
The suspect, 18-year old Robert Sims was involved in an altercation with his brother. Ernest
Sims, the boy’s grandfather intervened and was stabbed. Robert Sims has been charged with
1st Degree murder. His bond has been set at $200,000.
