A Beaumont police officer has been involved in a deadly shooting. Just past midnight, officers
were called to the Merit Inn in the 2600 block of I-10 about a trespasser. The suspect begin
assaulting and robbing the clerk. When the officer arrived, the suspect begin assaulting the
officer. During the altercation, the officer discharged his weapon striking the suspect, who
was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment.
