The DPS reports a woman that had run out of gas was struck and killed by a pickup last
night on Highway 69, near FM 3514 in Jefferson County. 34-year old Stephanie Kirk,
of Bridge City, was in the roadway attempting to flag down vehicles for help when she
was hit. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her pickup and the driver
of the other vehicle were not hurt.
