Evacuation Order Still In Place As Port Neches Plant Fire Burns

An evacuation order for around 50-thousand Southeast Texans is still in place due to a chemical plant fire. Jefferson County Emergency Management says flames are still burning at the TPC Group Port Neches Operations complex, but no additional explosions have happened. A tower collapsed yesterday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of people in Port Neches, Nederland, Groves, and part of Port Arthur. A unified command has been established between the company and federal, local, and state officials.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott says he's staying in close contact with local officials and emergency teams following explosions at a Southeast Texas petrochemical plant. Abbott says several agencies are assessing the aftermath, including the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
