Friday; COVID-19 Update

+A hotline has been set up for residents in Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, Jasper, and Newton counties for citizens that feel they may have been exposed to COVID-19. Residents will be able to talk to a nurse who will ask you questions about your symptoms. The nurse will determine if you meet the criteria for testing and set you with a location for further screening. The number to call is 409-550-2536. The number will become active at 8:00 Friday morning.

+Lamar University will move all courses to an online or alternative instructional method. This will continue through May 31st. For additional information you can go to lamar,edu/coronavirus. You may also submit any questions at this website. The campus, including computer labs will remain open for remainder of semester, but may have alternative service hours. Check website for updates. Dining services will resume this coming Monday, March 23rd in a modified capacity for take-out meals only.

+All driver license offices across the state of Texas have been closed until further notice. The temporary closure does not apply to individuals seeking an initial CDL. A number of drivers license offices across the state as designated as CDL site. These offices will offer CDL testing by appointment only. Driver’s license that expire on or after March 13th will remain valid for 60 days.

+Nearly all southeast Texas school will remained closed through at least April 3rd. Each district will be offering alternative services. For information, you are asked to go to your school district’s webpage.
