Charges against a man accused of firing shots and striking an Orange County Sheriff’s Office
patrol unit have been upgraded. 37-year old Joshua Sykes was initially charged with aggravated
assault on a peace officer. He is now charged with attempted capital murder. Deputies were
called to a disturbance in the 7200 block of Highway 12 Wednesday afternoon. That is the shots
were fired. No one was hurt. Sykes was arrested at the scene.
