COVID-19 Update Wednesday 4/8/20

+There are now 159 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the six Southeast Texas county region. 82 in Jefferson County, 39 in Hardin County, 31 in Orange County, 3 in Jasper County, 4 in Tyler County, and 1 in Newton County.There have been a total of 7 deaths.

+The 24-hour Southeast Texas Call Center remains in operation. Nearly 2,900 calls have been received at the center since it began operation of March 20th. A total of 1,079 tests have been conducted. Remember, you must call 409-550-2536 for a screening before you can be tested. Anyone arriving at a testing center without a code number from the call center will be turned away.

+BISD has announced students are no longer required to be present when a parent or guardian is picking up a meal. However, those picking up meals must present a valid 2019-20 student ID, a 2019-20 school year report card, a birth certificate that matches the ID of the guardian, and an attendance record from parent self serve. If none of these are met, a child must be present to receive a meal.

+Jefferson County Clerk Carolyn Guidry has announced her office will no longer accept appointments for marriage licenses due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County. Residents may continue file documents via E-filed or mail for processing.
