COVID-19 Update Wednesday 4/15/20

+There are now 266 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the six Southeast Texas county area. 142 cases have been reported in Jefferson County, 65 in Hardin County, 47 in Orange County, 6 in Jasper County, 4 in Tyler County, and 2 in Newton County. There have been 9 Coronoavirus related deaths.

+The city of Beaumont has reported 94 positive COVID-19 cases. There are 100 in the Beaumont jurisdiction, which includes Fannett, Cheek, China, and Nome. Of those testing positive, 55 are males and 45 are females. 41 of the positive cases are residents between the ages of 51 and 70. There have been two positive cases of children under 10. There have been 5 death related COVID-19 cases in Beaumont.

+The Southeast Texas Call Center remains in operation 24 hours a day. Since the center opened on March 20th, 3,859 calls have been received. 1,723 citizens in the six county region have been tested. Remember, you must call 409-550-2536 to be screened before you can be tested at one of the two testing sites in Southeast Texas.

+On Tuesday, April 14th, Orange County Judge John Gothia lifted the county’s burn ban and citizens are allowed to burn debris, waste,and leaves. Remember it is illegal to burn within some city limits. The burn ban was put in place on March 27th.
